At WWE Clash in Paris Premium Live Event (PLE) in France on August 31, Seth Rollins retained his World Heavyweight Championship with the help of his wife and fellow superstar Becky Lynch. The WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion made a shocking appearance in a hoodie towards the end of the fatal four-way title match, executing a low blow on CM Punk before revealing herself, when the latter was poised to beat her husband for the championship.
Just a day later, on WWE Monday Night Raw at the Paris La Defense Arena in France, CM Punk made his way to the ring upon learning about Seth Rollins’ sneaky way of arriving at the building after he had waited to get his hands on him at the entrance gate. But, instead of Seth Rollins, it was Becky Lynch who made her way inside the arena to her husband’s entrance theme before getting into the face of CM Punk in the ring and putting her hands on him following a fiery exchange.
With that, the fans started to speculate whether AJ Lee, the wife of CM Punk, will return to WWE after more than 10 years on behalf of her husband, to take on Becky Lynch. The suspense grew when CM Punk asked Raw General Manager Adam Pearce about the venue of SmackDown later this week, which coincidentally happens to be at the Allstate Arena in his home town of Chicago, where he and his wife AJ Lee also live.
AJ Lee hasn't been a part of WWE for more than 10 years
The speculation has grown stronger after a fan on X asked WWE Shop regarding an AJ Lee merch, to which their response read, now deleted, “Hey there! Of course, we wouldn’t expect that. With AJ Lee’s return to the ring, we are looking to have some [fire emoji] gear hopefully in time for Wrestlepalooza. Be sure you’re signed up for emails and get the latest updates on new live inventory. Happy shopping!”
Due to the blunder from WWE on X with their official shop account, AJ Lee’s return to the promotion is all but spoiled, although it is important to note that the rumors are just rumors until they are proven otherwise.
