The latest Premium Live Event (PLE) on the WWE calendar, called Wrestlepalooza, kick-started their partnership with ESPN, and the opening match of the show featured two of the greatest pro-wrestlers in history, John Cena and Brock Lesnar. But the contest left a lot to be desired as Lesnar destroyed Cena in a repeat of SummerSlam 2014, picking up a lopsided win over the Leader of the Cenation, whose farewell tour has now come to a screeching halt.
Before the match began, Paul Heyman introduced Brock Lesnar to the surprise of many, and then, the beatdown of John Cena began all over the ring at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. From burying his shoulder to the gut, hitting German suplexes, nailing clotheslines, Lesnar got Cena out of it from the very beginning of the match at WWE Wrestlepalooza.
But then, the resilience of John Cena showed through as he got some offense in, landing four shoulder blocks before hitting three Attitude Adjustments in a row to force Brock Lesnar to power out at two. When Cena went for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, Lesnar not only countered but he went on to hit a whopping six F5s in row before pinning him in the middle of the ring to the shock of everyone.
Kids cried after John Cena lost to Brock Lesnar at WWE Wrestlepalooza
The kids were captured crying on camera after their hero John Cena got yet another pummelling by Brock Lesnar, who didn’t stop at that. Lesnar came back for more, hitting an F5 on the referee Dan Engler before putting an exclamation mark on Cena’s beatdown with yet another F5, seven in total on the night at Wrestlepalooza, marking the start of WWE and ESPN in a historic fashion.
This match has completely derailed the farewell tour of John Cena with only five dates remaining in the next three months, starting with WWE Crown Jewel on October 11 at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.
