In the main event of WWE SmackDown from the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, Drew McIntrye balled against Randy Orton in a one-on-one match. After managing to defeat Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre proceeded to take him out at the ringside area, following which WWE Champion Cody Rhodes returned to the show, saving his best friend before challenging the Scottish Warrior to a championship match at Wrestlepalooza Premium Live Event (PLE) next weekend.

The latest stop in the longstanding heated rivalry between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton was a singles match at WWE SmackDown, and it was quite a physical battle from start to finish. When Orton stomped on McIntyre and delivered a big knee drop, he started limping a little, which allowed the Scottish Warrior to come back into the match by constantly attacking the bad knee.

Randy Orton suffered a loss against Drew McIntyre on WWE SmackDown

Drew McIntyre delivered a chop block before snapping the leg of Randy Orton against the ropes and putting on the coveted figure four leglock made famous by Ric Flair, which had the Viper scream in agony. But eventually, Orton managed to reverse the move, to bring pain to Drew McIntyre, who had to reach for the ropes to force the break with the help of the referee Ryan Tran inside the ring.

Both Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre went back-and-forth in inflicting punishment on one another before the closing moments saw the Scottish Warrior land the Claymore. Orton managed to roll out to the floor upon impact before McIntyre brought him back inside the ring, but the Viper countered with the RKO, which made the Scottish Warrior roll out to the floor upon impact as well.

It led to Randy Orton setting himself up to hit the Punt but Drew McIntrye rolled out of harm’s way before shoving referee Ryan Tran into the Viper and pinning him off following a devastating Claymore. When McIntyre lined up Orton to kick his head into the announcer’s table, just like he did a few weeks ago to Cody Rhodes, the latter came out to save his best friend before laying down the challenge to the Scottish Warrior for a match.
