After India started Day 3 in a comfortable position at 146/3, it was crucial for New Zealand to get an early breakthrough to get themselves back into the contest. The Kiwi pacers started the day on top and bowled some challenging line and length, troubling the Indian experienced duo of Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli. And eventually, Kyle Jamieson got his side the all-important wicket of the Indian skipper.

Kohli fails to add to previous day's score

The Indian captain played a few dot deliveries on Day 3 and eventually found himself trapped in front of the bowling of his franchise teammate Kyle Jamieson. As Kohli tried to shuffle across, he got completely beaten on his inside edge as the ball went on to strike the pads plumb in front of the wicket. His innings ended at his previous day's score of 44 as India were down to 149/4.

Kohli's bad review record

Knowing the importance of his wicket, he took a review but it showed three reds as he made his way back into the pavilion. Notably, the Indian skipper has a very poor record of DRS referrals in Test cricket as a batsman as he has had only 2 decisions upheld in 17 attempts.
