Celebrations are a vital part of a sport such as cricket and football. Not only do the teams celebrate together after pulling off a memorable win or clinching an important title, but even individuals tend to have their own ways of celebrating an important milestone in the game, such as taking a wicket in a cricket match or scoring a goal in a football fixture.
However, a celebration video of a Serbian cricketer has gone viral on social media. This is because of the baffling nature of the celebration itself. While one has seen many a celebrations in sports worldwide, Ayo Mene-Ejegi flipped on the ground before lying straight with open arms, something strange and unusual.
The bowler celebrated in this fashion as the dismissal brought up his 100th wicket. “💯 wicket celebration from Serbia’s Ayo Mene-Ejegi 🙌,” the video was captioned by the ICC.
Here is the video:
Notably, the video has surfaced from the match between Serbia and Isle of Man which is part of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Europe Qualifier. Ayo scalped as many as four wickets in the match as Serbia managed to keep Isle of Man down to 165 for 7 in their quota of 20 overs. Despite Ayo’s efforts, Serbia ended up on the losing side as their batters were able to muster 97/7. Consequently, Isle of Man won the match by 68 runs.
The Men’s T20 World Cup this year is set to be staged in Australia and will commence on October 16 with the final scheduled for November 13.
