The Asia Cup will return with its 2025 edition on September 9, with the maiden game between Afghanistan and Hong Kong in Dubai. In the eight-team competition to be held in the T20 International (T20I) format, Team India will be defending the title under Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership. There will be two groups in the tournament, comprising four teams. Group A consists of India, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Oman while in Group B, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong will lock horns against one another.

The top two sides from both pools will advance to the Super 4 round to be held from September 20 to 28. As the United Arab Emirates is the host of the event, the matches will be played at two venues. Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium and Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Off 19 matches, Dubai has got the hosting rights of 11 games while Abu Dhabi’s graceful stadium will conduct eight matches. The final of the tournament will be played in Dubai on September 28. Dubai will also conduct the high-octane contest between India and Pakistan on September 14. 

Star-studded commentary panels to deliver blockbuster cricketing action

During the continental competition, some iconic figures will be seen delivering match updates to viewers. Distinguished names such as Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, Ajay Jadeja, Abhishek Nayar, Vivek Razdan, Saba Karim, Gaurav Kapur, Samir Kochhar, and Atish Thukral will grace the matches with their voices as Sony Sports Network announced the Hindi commentary panel on September 6.

However, ardent supporters will have to wait for the English panel to be announced by the broadcasters. Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Wasim Akram, and Harsha Bhogle are some names who are likely to show up as English commentators at the notable cricketing event.
