Bangladesh registered their second win in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 after they defeated Afghanistan by 8 runs in match number nine of the tournament. With this, Bangladesh ended their group stage with two wins and a loss in three matches. Batting first, Bangladesh posted a total of 154 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs. In reply, Afghanistan were bowled out for 146 runs in 20 overs.

Coming to bat first after winning the toss, Bangladesh got a great start as Saif Hassan and Tanzid Hasan put up an opening partnership of 63 runs in 6.4 overs. Saif got out after scoring 30(28) runs hitting two fours and a six while Tanzid top scored with 52 runs off 31 balls hitting four fours and three sixes. After a good start, Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals but were still able to 150-run mark. For Afghanistan, skipper Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad scalped two wickets each while Azmatullah Omarzai put one in his bag.

Chasing the winning target, Afghanistan got a poor start as they lost two wickets for just 18 runs in 4.1 overs. After that, Rahmanullah Gurbaz tried to take the innings further but got out after scoring 35 runs off 31 balls hitting two fours and as many sixes. Afghanistan were reduced to 62/4 and then Azmatullah Omarzai arrived at the crease. Star of the previous with his 53(21) runs, Omarzai also looked in good touch as he scored a quickfire 30(16) with one four and three sixes.

After that, skipper Rashid Khan tried to take his team down the winning line but got out after scoring 20 runs off 11 balls. At last Afghanistan lost all their 10 wickets after playing whole 20 overs. For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets while Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed and Nasum Ahmed took two wickets each.
