Former Team India opener Kris Srikkanth has censured pacer Harshit Rana for his disheartening performance against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours game held in Dubai on September 28. In the final Super 4 match between India and Sri Lanka, India rested their key stalwarts Jasprit Bumrah and Shivam Dube. Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh were given the opportunity to play in the playing XI. The speedster looked indisciplined with the ball, registering 1/54 figures in his four overs. During the contest, Harshit also looked aggressive with his behaviour but his ferociousness didn’t impress Srikkanth.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, ex-India player Srikkanth came heavily on Rana for his behaviour. “Harshit Rana does too many filmy gimmicks. All these filmy reactions aren’t of any use, you’ve to actually bowl well. He does all these filmy reactions in the IPL as well. This is not a good attitude; it’s just showboating. He dives after the ball is already past him.Why dive after the goal has already been scored? Aggression is different, but showboating so much at a young age is why he got punished today,” said Srikkanth.

Harshit Rana’s performance in Asia Cup 2025

Harshit Rana has played two matches in Asia Cup 2025, in which he has got only two wickets while splurging runs at a heavy economy of 11.28. In the final against Pakistan, he is highly likely to be dropped as there are high chances of the return of veteran Jasprit Bumrah and Shivam Dube in the playing XI.

Besides Harshit, Arshdeep Singh might also be benched as India will look to go ahead with the settled playing XI which has delivered the desired results to the team thus far. India have been unbeaten in the Asia Cup 2025, and they will look to produce their best against the Men in Green on Sunday.
