England's white-ball captain Harry Brook feels Zak Crawley and Jordan Cox can play the limited-over formats for England. Both Crawley and Cox played exceptionally for their respective teams in The Hundred 2025. Serving Oval Invincibles, Cox smashed 367 runs with three fifties in nine matches at a strike rate of 173.93 and ended up as the leading run-getter in the tournament. Crawley also looked extraordinary as he racked up 280 runs for Northern Superchargers in nine outings at a stupendous strike rate of 160.00. With these numbers, he concluded the tournament as the third-highest run-scorer.
Discussing Crawley, Harry Brook said that the right-handed opener has the potential to trouble bowlers in white-ball forms of the sport. "Crawley obviously has the attributes that we're talking about: putting pressure on the bowlers with their good and bad balls; he can manipulate the field really well; he's good against fast bowling and he's good against spin. He's got all the attributes to play white-ball (cricket) for England. It's the same with everybody. Everybody's been talking about Jordan Cox: he's obviously an unbelievable player. You've just got to keep on doing it, and be as consistent as you can for a long period of time, it's good to have competition (for places),” remarked Brook, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Zak Crawley has played eight One-Day International (ODI) matches, in which he scored 199 runs with two fifties at a strike rate of 97.07. Wicket-keeper Cox has also appeared in five contests. He has appeared in three ODIs, in which he has hoarded 22 runs while in his couple of T20I games, he could score only 17 runs at an average of 8.50.
Crawley played his last ODI game against the West Indies in December 2023 while Cox’s previous outing in the white-ball format came in November 2024, with his ODI appearance against the Windies side. England’s next assignment is against South Africa, who will square off against the Brook-led side in three ODIs and three T20Is, between September 2 and 14.
