Team India’s strength & conditioning coach Adrian Le Roux has revealed the reason why the Bronco Test has been introduced by the BCCI. Earlier, the Yo Yo Test was conducted to assess the fitness level of the players but last week, India supporters went through the latest Test announced by the board. All players passed it but pacer Prasidh Krishna cleared it with excellent grades. Eyes were set on veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and both iconic names cleared the test. Several former players raised questions on the introduction of the Bronco Test, however, the results haven’t affected the chances of any Team India members to play international cricket.
Prior to the Asia Cup 2025 game against Pakistan, India players were seen undergoing the Bronco drill. In the video released by BCCI, coach Le Roux said that the Bronco Test isn’t the new thing in the fitness domain. In the sports culture, it has been a crucial part to evaluate the fitness level of players. "The run we did today is Bronco run. It is not a new run or a measurement. It has been around for years in different sporting codes. It is something we introduced in the team's environment. It is two-fold in use: We can use it as a training mechanism, and secondly, as a measurement. We get a good idea of where the players are in terms of their aerobic fitness and if we are moving in the right direction. It is a field test. We can do it at any place, any ground around the world. As we travel, we can always use it," said Le Roux.
Adrian Le Roux enjoyed his maiden assignment with Team India in England
Adrian Le Roux also revealed that he relished his first assignment with Team India during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 held in England. "To see the work ethic of players, that really impressed me. The fight we showed, I was honoured to be a proud of it. I have worked in IPL for many players, and have worked with most of the players. Though it is a new team, there is some history here," added Le Roux.
Le Roux was associated with Team India in the early 2000s as well. In IPL, he served Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) from 2008 to 2019. After parting ways with Knight Riders, he delivered his services to Punjab Kings (PBKS) from 2020 to 2025.
