Amidst the ongoing Women’s ODI World Cup in India, a couple of players from the Australian women’s team had a forgettable experience as they were touched inappropriately on their way to from team hotel to a cafe in Indore on Thursday, October 23. Cricket Australia confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday which also raised concerns regarding the safety of women in India.
“Cricket Australia can confirm two members of the Australian Women’s Team were approached and touched inappropriately by a motorcyclist while walking to a cafe in Indore,” the statement by Cricket Australia read. After that, BCCI also condemned the incident and stated that they will review their safety protocols. The accused has also been arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Police. However, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Madhya Pradesh minister Kailash Vijayvargiya made a shocking incident and put a blame on the Australian cricketers for not informing the management before going out of the hotel.
This is a mistake from their side too: Kailash Vijayvargiya
While giving his byte to NDTV News, Kailash Vijayvargiya shared his opinion on the Australian women cricketers getting harassed in Indore and said that the players also shouldn’t go without informing anyone. “Look, there has been a lapse. But the players suddenly leaving from there without telling anyone — they didn't even tell their coach — this is a mistake from their side too. Because, there was personal security and police security too, but they left as no one noticed, and this incident happened,” Vijayvargiya said to NDTV.
“The incident is unfortunate. But now the players should also learn from this. I feel that when we go to another country, or another city, we should also worry about our own safety,” he further added.

Speaking further, Vijayvargiya also mentioned that there is a huge craze for cricketers in India and players must inform the security and the local administration before going out in public. “Players must keep in mind that when they leave their place, their security and local administration should be informed because there is a huge craze for cricketers (in India),” Vijayvargiya was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
