In the Asia Cup 2025 match between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the former team’s batting attack looked completely out of rhythm for the majority of the innings and amassed only 146/9 in their 20 overs. After losing against Team India on September 14, the Men in Green are playing the do-or-die contest against the UAE. At the toss, the UAE captain Muhammad Waseem emerged victorious and elected to field first. The Men in Green lost their opener Saim Ayub in the first over. The young opener departed on a duck for the third time in a row. Pacer Junaid Siddique got rid of the southpaw. After scalping Ayub’s wicket, Siddique dismissed Sahibzada Farhan, who lost his wicket after scoring only five off 12.

Except for Fakhar Zaman (50 off 36) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (unbeaten 29 off 14), no player looked disciplined in Pakistan’s batting attack. Noting Pakistan’s underwhelming batting performance, netizen didn’t shy away from berating them. An X user named Danish wrote, “Might be the worst batting lineup to ever play for Pakistan in a tournament, really thought it couldn't get worse than 2015 and 2016.”

Below are some of the posts on X criticising the subpar batting from Pakistan against the UAE in Asia Cup 2025 clash:

Expectations high from Pakistan’s bowling attack

Expectations are now high from Pakistan’s bowling unit. Defending the average total, the Green Army will want their key pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf to step up and give a tough time to Emirates’ batters. Pakistan’s spinners Mohamad Nawaz will also have to utilise his experience and deliver wickets to his side.

Team India are the only side to qualify for the Super 4 round, thus far in the tournament. If Pakistan extracts victory in this game, they will take on India in the Sunday match of the Super 4 round.
