In the first semi-final of the Duleep Trophy 2025 between the South Zone and the North Zone, it is the South Zone who have taken the ascendancy as they have managed to post a total of 536 runs at the close of play on day two. A major chunk of their runs was scored by their star opener Narayan Jagadeesan. He displayed a beautiful batting performance against the North Zone and stood his ground to score a total of 197 runs in 352 deliveries at a strike rate of around 55.

However, Jagadeesan missed a wonderful opportunity to score a double century as he was run out just three runs away from the milestone by Nishant Sindhu. The 29-year-old scored a total of 16 boundaries throughout his innings all over the pitch which left the bowlers speechless and stunned. The batsman also smashed two sixes out of the park, overall he created a lasting impact on the team to put up a formidable score on board.

Nishant Sindhu clinches five-wicket haul for North Zone against South Zone

The opening partner of Narayan Jagadeesan, Tanmay Agarwal built a foundation alongside him and scored a valuable 43 runs in the opening partnership. The Bengaluru boy Devdutt Padikkal looked in good shape and put up 57 runs, however he was cleaned up by Anshul Kamboj who bowled a peach of a delivery which was caught by Wadhawan. After that each of the batsmen played small cameos to help the team reach the desired score despite an impressive performance with the ball from Nishant Sindhu for the North Zone.

With only two days remaining for the match to come to an end, the North Zone will have to put up a special performance to chase this gigantic total. Nishant Sidhu was the star of the night for the North Zone as he clinched a five-wicket haul in the first innings of the South Zone.
