Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav has made a shocking revelation regarding Asian Cricket Council (ACC) officials. Following the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan, there were several reports doing rounds on social media that claimed that Team India made ACC officials wait during the presentation ceremony as the champion side didn’t want to receive medals and trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who is ACC and PCB President. However, Suryakumar has dismissed such media claims and said that his side didn’t make anyone wait.
In an interview with The Indian Express, Suryakumar Yadav said that his team was not in the dressing room during the post-match presentation but on the ground and he witnessed that someone took the trophy away following the boos from the spectators. “We didn’t close the door and sit inside the dressing room. We didn’t make anyone wait for the presentation ceremony. Trophy leke bhaag gaye woh (They ran away with the trophy). That’s what I saw. I don’t know, some people were making a video of us, but we were standing. We didn’t go inside,” said Suryakumar.
Team India weren’t given directive to not receive the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi
Suryakumar Yadav also disclosed that Team India weren’t given advice to not receive the coveted trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. “First of all, let me make it clear, no one from the Government or the BCCI told us anything throughout the tournament that if someone gives a trophy, we won’t take it. We took that decision on our own on the ground,” added the 35-year-old.
Following the extraordinary Asia Cup 2025 campaign and amidst this controversy, Team India will look forward to hosting the West Indies from October 2. Shubman Gill and his men will look to carry their superb Test form ahead and stand tall against the Caribbean side.
