On Thursday, September 4, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) announced United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) 17-member squad for the upcoming Men’s Asia Cup 2025. The continental tournament which will be played in T20 format, is scheduled to be played entirely in the UAE from September 9 to 28.

The team from the middle-east will be led by Muhammad Waseem and includes some prominent faces. While majority of the players have retained their place in the 17-men side, right-arm pacer Matiullah Khan and left-arm spinner Simranjeet Singh are two notable inclusions, who will mark their return in the national setup.

Matiullah Khan, 32 has only played one ODI and five T20Is for UAE so far, whereas Simranjeet Singh, 35, has featured in 11 T20Is and five ODIs. The left-arm spinner’s last appearance came in the Gulf T20I Championship in December 2024.

Speaking of the UAE, the nation will mark their first appearance in the continental event after last playing in the 2016 edition. The Md Waseem-led side are placed in Group A alongside defending champions Team India, Pakistan and Oman. They will kickstart their campaign on September 10 against India, followed by a game each against Oman (September 15) and Pakistan (September 17).
