Aaryavir Sehwag, the 17-year-old youngster who is the son of the Indian cricketing legend Virender Sehwag, finally got to make his debut for Central Delhi Kings in the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025.The young opener has bought back the flair and aggressive batting style of his father after scoring a rampant 22 runs of just 16 balls.
Aaryavitopened the innings for the Central Delhi Kings and took his time to get on with the scoring.. The 17-year-old took just one run in the four deliveries he faced in the first two overs. However, in the next deliveries that he faced, he announced himself in the Delhi Premier league by scoring four spectacular boundaries. He smashed two boundaries off the bowling of Navdeep Saini who was part of the Indian squad for a period of time and later he took on the 17-year-old spinner Rounak Waghela smashing two consecutive boundaries off his bowling. However, he was later dismissed by the same spinner in the same over marking an end to his quick-fire innings.
Aaryavir will look forward to make the most of the opportunities presented to him in the DPL 2025
His playing style and his aggressive approach reminded the fans of his father Virender Sehwag who was one of the best Indian openers during his time. The opening partnership of Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar is something which all of the Indian cricket fans cherish till date. The cricket fans see a glimmer of hope in Aaryavir Sehwag to rewind time and bring back the times how Virender Sehwag used to strike the ball.
It will be tough for the 17-year-old youngster to live up to the legacy created by his dad. However, step by step he can get close to making his own legacy if he continues his form. In addition to his splendid batting, Aaryavir also took a sublime catch to dismiss the East Delhi Riders opener Sujal Singh. He will be looking forward to making the most of the opportunities presented to him in the DPL this season.
