On Friday, October 3, Dhruv Jurel, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter, scored his maiden hundred in Test cricket at the expense of West Indies in the first Test of the two-match series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After reaching the milestone moment on the bowling of West Indies captain Roston Chase, hitting him for a four with the flick shot past mid-wicket on the 190th ball faced in his innings, Dhruv Jurel brought out a new celebration for everyone to see.
Moments before taking off the helmet and raising his bat to the acknowledgement of the fans and his teammates, Dhruv Jurel held his bat vertically before moving it from his right to left to celebrate his maiden Test hundred. The right-handed batter is currently in the midst of a big partnership with veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, taking his team past 400 runs in the third session of day two after bowling out West Indies for just 162 within the first two sessions on the opening day.

Dhruv Jurel has now become the 12th Indian wicketkeeper-batter to score a hundred in Test cricket after getting a chance to play in the absence of injured Rishabh Pant. He is also the fifth Indian wicketkeeper to get past the three-figure score in Test cricket for the first-time in their careers against West Indies, joining the illustrious list including names like Vijay Manjrekar, Farookh Engineer, Ajay Ratra, and Wriddhiman Saha.
The 206-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja was broken by Khary Pierre, who took his maiden wicket in Test cricket. The West Indies leg spinner got rid of Dhruv Jurel, getting him caught behind with Shai Hope taking a good catch, but by then, the Indian wicket-keeper batter scored 125 off 210 with 15 fours and three sixes.
