India captain Harmanpreet Kaur showed her emotional side after guiding her team to ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 title win. In the final of the marquee 50-over tournament, India stood tall against South Africa by 52 runs and became the fourth team to win the coveted trophy. Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma looked outstanding and made vital all-round contributions to India's success in the final. Deepti took a fifer with the ball while donning the role of batter, she notched up a run-a-ball 58. Shafali, who joined India's campaign in the knockouts, also scored 87 off 78 while opening the innings. With the ball, the 21-year-old grabbed two wickets.

Besides Shafali and Deepti, India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and head coach Amol Mazumdar also deserve praise for their leadership performances. Following the match, Harmanpreet couldn't hide her emotions and touched Amol's feet. He also reciprocated by sharing a hug with her.

Harmanpreet Kaur's contribution to India's historic title success

In India's maiden title triumph, Harmanpreet played a crucial role not just with her captaincy but with bat as well. The 36-year-old hoarded 260 runs with two half-centuries in eight innings of nine matches. In the semi-final against reigning champions Australia in Navi Mumbai, she scored an incredible 89 which helped India hammer Alyssa Healy and her girls.

The victory becomes more special because India lost three consecutive games after winning their initial two matches in the round-robin stage. There was a time when India were on a brink of elimination but Harmanpreet didn't lose hope and guided India to the historic success.
