As the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 progresses further, in match number nine, Bangladesh will lock horns with Afghanistan in Group B clash at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, September 16. While the Litton Das-led side are coming after a defeat against Sri Lanka, Afghanistan registered a convincing 94-run win over Hong Kong in their opening match.
But as the tournament gets intense with the fight for the Super Four on, Afghanistan head coach Jonathan Trott was asked several questions, while speaking of the team’s preparation ahead of their upcoming game. When asked if Bangladesh would be under pressure in the game against Afghanistan, Jonathan Trott quipped, “Yes, I think Bangladesh will be under pressure.”

Trott further continued, claiming that Bangladesh have won the competition a few times to which a journalist quickly came up, clearing out that Bangladesh have never lifted the Asia Cup. To this, Trott repeatedly asked, “Are you sure?” Eventually, Afghanistan media manager stepped up while Trott insisted, “I thought they won the 50-over Asia Cup,” googling in his press conference.

Speaking of the competition, Afghanistan are placed second in the Group B with one win in as many games. Bangladesh on the other hand, are third with a solitary win in two games. Sri Lanka currently sits at the top, almost confirming their Super Four berth in the Asia Cup 2025.
