For the unversed, West Indies skipper Roston Chase won the toss and elected to bat first. While the visiting side struggled on the field, on the back of a four-fer from Mohammed Siraj, they were bundled out at the score of 162.

While Siraj stood out with the ball, Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets with Kuldeep Yadav getting two and Washington Sundar getting one to his name. The Men in Blue continued to dominate with the bat as they put up 218/3 at lunch on Day 2. KL Rahul scores his 11th Test hundred in first Test vs WI; ends his nine-year century drought in Tests

Trailing West Indies by 41 runs at Stumps on Day 1, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul played with grit to post a lead. While Shubman Gill departed after scoring 50 off 100 deliveries, KL Rahul continued his form of ages as he went on to breach the three-figure mark. On the fifth delivery of the 65th over, which was being bowled by Roston Chase, KL went for a single to reach his ton.

He quickly took off his helmet and kissed the badge, what followed was pleasing to see. Getting to his only second Test hundred at home, KL Rahul raised his bat in one hand and blew a whistle, celebrating the feat. Notably, it was KL Rahul’s 11th Test century and first after 2016, which came against England at Chepauk.
