Gaur Gorakhpur Lions fielder Shivam Sharma ended up taking a spectacular catch to dismiss Shaurya Singh in UP T20 League 2025 clash against Kanpur Superstars at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. While chasing a target of 142 runs in 15 overs in a rain affected clash, Kanpur Superstars had a poor start as they lost Inzamam Hussain in the second ball of the second overs with just two runs on board as Prince Yadav gave Gaur Gorakhpur Lions a first breakthrough.
On the fifth ball of the second over, another Kanpur opener Shaurya Singh attempted a big shot on the leg side against Prince Yadav but it didn’t connect as the ball was falling inside the 30-yard circle only. After that, Shivam Sharma came running and ended up taking a brilliant catch before losing his balance and falling on the ground. Kanpur Superstars lost two wickets for just eight runs under two overs.

Talking about the match, it turned out to be a thrilling contest where Gaur Gorakhpur Lions went on to defeat Kanpur Superstars in a super over. Batting first, Gorakhpur Lions posted 141 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 15 overs. Prince Yadav was top scorer with 40(29) runs hitting three maximums while Siddarth Yadav and Bhaskar Bharadwaj scored 29(12) and 28(14) respectively.
Chasing the winning target, Kanpur Superstars lost two wickets for just eight runs under two overs. After that, skipper Sameer Rizvi took charge of the innings and played a captain’s knock of 75(43) runs hitting five fours and six sixes. After his dismissal, Faiz Ahmed scored 25(18) runs as Kanpur also ended up posting 141 runs losing five wickets as the match was proceeded to a super over. In the super over, Gaur Gorakhpur Lions held their nerves and registered a thrilling win over Kanpur Superstars.
