Team India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav is all set to return at the helm in the Men’s Asia Cup 2025, set to be played in the UAE. The tournament, which will be played in T20 format, is set to be held from September 9 with the final scheduled to be played on September 28. While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the continental tournament, Shubman Gill has been handed the vice-captaincy reins.
Just days ahead of the showpiece event, skipper Suryakumar Yadav shared an update on his rehabilitation. It is to be noted that Suryakumar Yadav will mark his return after undergoing his rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru following his sports hernia surgery in Germany.
I’m feeling good: Suryakumar Yadav updates on his recovery
Speaking on the BCCI TV, Suryakumar Yadav said, “I’m feeling good right now. It’s been five to six weeks. A good process, good routines for the last six weeks and fingers crossed, feeling really well.” The Mumbai batter also revealed about his injury, which he confirmed to have occurred during the later stages of IPL 2025, stating, “It actually got diagnosed close to the end of IPL. I felt it because I had the similar kind of injury last year as well and that’s how I got to know. So a few checklists were there.”
“I tried those things and then I realised that it’s time to go and do a mall MRI. When I did it, it was very clear in that. I did it post-IPL, went to Germany. It went really well how it went last year and I knew how the recovery is going to be step by step. So we took one week at a time, and we are here and I’m feeling good,” he continued.
