In the fifth match of the Asia Cup 2025, the Group B clash, Sri Lanka are currently taking on Bangladesh at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, and they have managed to restrict the opposition to 139/5 in the allotted 20 overs. In the first half of the Bangladesh innings, a bizarre incident happened involving their number six batter Jaker on the bowling of Sri Lanka leg spinner Wanindu Hasranga.
The third ball of the 10th over from Wanindu Hasaranga was a googly, which bamboozled the right-hander before going past him and clipping the outside of the LED stumps, which lit up instantly. With the bails not coming off, Jaker Ali managed to survive at the crease, which not only shocked the Sri Lankan players, including Wanindu Hasaranga and captain Charith Asalanka, but also the umpire nearby.

Just a couple of balls later, Wanindu Hasaranga forced a reverse sweep shot from Bangladesh captain Litton Das on a delivery at the stumps, which the latter couldn’t middle before the ball ballooned to wicket-keeper Kusal Mendis, who caught it gleefully. The appeal from the bowler was not given, but on DRS, Litton Das was given his marching order after it was adjudicated that the ball hit him on the glove before the catch was taken.
Moreover, Jaker Ali stayed unbeaten for his 41 off 34 with just two fours to give Bangladesh a total to fight against Sri Lanka after finding themselves at 53-5 in 9.5 overs.
