One of the greatest moments ever where it comes to the men’s senior Cricket Team from India is the brilliant mega title triumph in the ICC men’s Senior World Cup that took place in the year 1983 in England. Not only is the tournament remembered because of the mesmerising triumph of the Indian cricket team lead by Kapil Dev, it is also something to truly savour and for the times to come because of the fact that the team had entered the tournament as not exactly the hot favourites. But as a matter of fact as the underdogs! Then for them to have defeated none other than the mighty West Indies in the mega final that was held at Lord’s cricket Ground or something truly spectacular, and it could be said that this mega victory started a new era all together for cricket in the country.

Long live the legends!  Whether it was the attitude and commanding leadership of the great legend Kapil Dev, the glorious batting of Dilip Vengsarkar and Sunil Gavaskar amongst the others or the all round inspiring show by the likes of Jimmy Amarnath, the team revolved around a sense of a close knit camaraderie and the group excelled resulting from fantastic individual talents.

Ever since that triumph, which, if you now think about happened 43 years ago, there have been several reunions within the country India of the men’s World Cup winning team from that year. And whenever such an occasion happens, it sorts of fills the hearts of the cricket fans with a sense of gladness and is a wonderful throwback to brilliant era where India succeeded in the days of the yore.

There is so much to learn from the talents that led a new wave of Indian cricket back in the day and so much to feel proud about even to this day! And most recently there has been a brilliant reunion, which took place for the first time ever outside India in a foreign country which brought back the winning pack from the 1983 World Cup together.

The question is, what was it all about?  

A special first of its kind tour 

To basically mark a 3-day celebratory tour, the victorious India's 1983 Cricket World Cup-winning squad in its entirety basis the members who are amid us has reunited in Singapore, which in itself is an exciting development. And they’ve done so for the historic '83 Legends tour that is from August 7 to 9, 2026. The same is actually organised by the Mariners Cricket Club Singapore. You can call it a landmark 3-day event or tour and the same marks the Indian team's maiden reunion in South-East Asia.

While there’ll be a special celebration at the Bombay Brasserie, the tour will comprise of several exciting fan bases and audience engaging events such as corporate leadership sessions, meet and greet and other public interactions.
