Delhi Capitals (DC) enter the IPL 2026 auction with work to do a plenty of gaps to fill, particularly at the top of the order and in their overseas roster. The departures of Jake Fraser-McGurk and Faf du Plessis have left them without overseas openers, and with only three overseas players currently in the squad, the franchise must prioritise multiple foreign signings across roles rather than banking on a single marquee addition.
With a purse of Rs 21.80 crore, Delhi can sign up to eight players, five of them overseas. They must secure a genuine wicket-taking seamer and strengthen their top order with proven overseas quality. The auction presents them with an opportunity to fill these gaps and build a more balanced and threatening XI for 2026. Here are 3 players who could be targeted by DC in the IPL Mini Auction.
1.Ben Duckett
The left hand batter from England has done well in white ball cricket in the last few years. Duckett’s aggressive approach, combined with his ability to take on both pace and spin, makes him a strong fit for DC’s top order. In his last T20I series for England, he scored 115 runs in three matches against West Indies, including two scores in the thirties. He averaged 38.33 and struck at 169.12.
2.Matthew Fords
Delhi lacked a finisher last season and this West Indian all-rounder could fix that issue. Force has impressed everyone with his new-ball bowling, combined with his lower-order hitting. He brought in eye balls with his record-setting fastest ODI fifty earlier this year which makes him an attractive T20 package. Overall with premium all-rounders going for plenty of money, DC could be tempted to take a punt on this new and exciting all-round talent in this auction.
3.Jacob Duffy
Jacob Duffy’s recent white-ball rise with New Zealand makes him an appealing option for Delhi. He is ranked Number 1 T20I bowler in the world and could form a good pair with Mitchell Starc at DC. Duffy has been a regular for New Zeland in the international circuit and he can be a good option for DC in this IPL Mini Auction.
