The Lucknow Super Giants star Aiden Markram opened up about his relationship with Sanjiv Goenka. He stated that there is an obvious weight of expectation that the players feel but that isn’t necessarily felt when they have conversations with each other. LSG has undergone a very difficult season as they have finished at the bottom of the table at the end of the season. These are sights that no team owner wants to see as they picked the side with such precision. To see their star players underperform would be a difficult pill to swallow but from what Aiden Markram stated, it seems he is one of the owners that players would love to be around.

“Firstly we have had some nice conversations about the game about creating good environments for people to enjoy their time as part of the family. And he's very relaxed which I enjoy. I think often you can feel a weight of expectation as a player wanting to represent the franchise as well and I don't get that same kind of heaviness when I speak to him which is nice,” said Aiden Markram on his relationship with Sanjiv Goenka

Aiden Markram backs Sanjiv Goenka’s leadership style despite criticism in the past

Sanjiv Goenka, the LSG owner has been subject to criticism for his over involvement in the game as he was seen to be talking to the match officials as well. A couple of seasons back, a controversial moment took place on the field after an LSG match as Goenka was seen to be having an animated discussion with his skipper KL Rahul. That moment was treated lightly by the fans as they felt that the owners had their limits and that he had absolutely no right to talk in such a manner to the Indian star. It was also stated that it was one of the issues why he made up his mind on leaving the franchise. Aiden Markram has come out in defense of his owner defying all the allegations that were initially present.

“You want to play, you want to make them proud obviously they have made it possible for us guys, the Lucknow Super Giants family. So there's a lot to play for but at least it doesn't get heavy and the weight of expectation doesn't feel bad,” added Aiden Markram.

The South African batter Aiden Markram wasn’t exactly at his best in the IPL 2026 season and he failed to contribute like he usually does. The environment was indeed a fine one and the fact that they had a good level of comfort with the owners is reassuring for the fans. Sanjiv Goenka stated in an interview prior to the tournament that he believes that Rishabh Pant will win 5-6 titles for the side. LSG haven’t done justice to their owners in terms of their performance but they will be hoping to make amends in the IPL 2027 season. Not just for the owners, but even for the fans as they have been terribly disappointed with their disastrous 10th place finish in the points table.
