On this day, May 26, 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets to clinch third IPL Title. The big Final of the 2024 saw two best teams of the season Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Kolkata Knight Riders. It was a high scoring tournament and these two sides had broken plenty of records throughout the season. Sunrisers Hyderabad were batting first and they lost the wicket of Abhishek Sharma early as Mitch Starc started the game with a superb new ball spell in the first over of the game.

Kolkata Knight Riders kept up the good work for the rest of the innings as Sunrisers Hyderabad were bowled out for 113 in the 19th over. It was a dominant performance from the KKR side and they were the favourites at the halfway stage of the innings. Chasing the target, Kolkata Knight Riders lost the wicket of Sunil Narine early as they were 11/1.
Venkatesh Iyer along with Gurbaz stitched up a massive partnership for the second wicket as they took the score past 100 and cruised the chase. Venkatesh Iyer smashed a half century as Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the target with eight wickets spare and clinched their third IPL title. It was a successful tournament for KKR under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer and an incredible day.
