Playing for the Rewa Jaguars side in the 31st match of the ongoing and highly popular Madhya Pradesh League T20 against the Jabalpur Royal Lions, young and dominant batter Akshay Raghuwanshi struck a free scoring and whirlwind century just hours ago that has both earned him new fans in the T20 format and wide acclaim for the sheer brilliant nature of his inspiring ton. After the Jabalpur Royal Lions side put forth a highly commendable total of 218 runs off just their 20 overs in batting first (thanks to useful contributions with rhe bat from the likes of Ajay Rohera, Rahul Batham and Ritik Tada), it was up to the Rewa side to chase that imposing total done.

And chase they most certainly did thanks to a commanding century that saw no fewer than 147 unbeaten runs being scored off 64 deliveries as Rewa’s batting sensation truly made a match out of what would have otherwise been a steep and distant climb.

What ought to be noted in Akshat Raghuvwanshi’s brilliant century in the ongoing Madhya Pradesh T20 league was the sheer fact that while towering hits and swanky blows did come and a rate that the Jabalpur side could hardly keep up with or control, there was also a sense of timing and flourish to it all.

Raghuwanshi made use of the big ground and collected runs like a sheer determined craftsman who was possessed by the sheer desire to succeed and go after the bowlers.

And go after the bowlers he most certainly did as he struck not less than 14 amazing boundaries and 10 great hits that landed over the fence. Doing simple school boy math tells us something commanding and telling about his blistering ton.

Of his 147 runs, Akshat Raghuwanshi scored 116 of them all by way of hits to the fence. Now, if that’s not impressive, then what is?

It was just the sort of innings that made his captain Prithviraj Tomar beam with a big and bright smile and ditto for the rest of his teammates.

Earlier on in the tournament, Akshat Raghuwanshi, who has played just 12 first class games so far in his career, did chip in with a gritty 85 against the Bhopal Leopards, a powerful side in the tournament. But with this blistering century that came at a strike rate of over 210, Akshat Raghuwanshi has proved a thing or two and it’s that he can fire useful and heaps of runs despite batting amid pressure. Imagine how difficult it may have been in being asked to chase down 219?

Here’s another talented batter from India who has just not age but talent, time and fitness on his side.
