One of the most disappointing and perhaps unexpectedly dramatic incidents came to life most recently when the India A side went down fighting against the Sri Lankan A opponents in a contest that was a live wire of a game in that it didn’t only feature action packed moments but even had a super over finish. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the otherwise talented, dependable and calm headed batter who usually focuses hard on just his batting was seen involved in what could be described as a shocking incident with him being part of an altercation with Sri Lanka’s right arm medium pacer Vishen Halambage.

Despite trying his level best to make something of the final delivery bowled by the young Sri Lankan bowler in that thrilling super over finish, Sooryavanshi perhaps let down by his own disappointment (in having not been able to take his team over the ropes), had a few words to say to his opposite number in the Sri Lankan camp and this led to a visibly disparate moment that could very certainly have been avoided. But wasn’t.

However, India A lost the contest and that loss came at the back of suffering another disappointing loss sustained earlier against Afghanistan A side.

But in the aftermath of the recent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi episode in the contest in which his captain Tilak Varma too was clearly seen let down and frustrated on ground, someone important from the BCCI has stepped in to offer support. This sort of solace and guidance is much needed especially on the part of the young players who have an entire future right in front of them.

That being said, which BCCI figure stepped forward and said what exactly on this particular matter?

Well, it turns out that the revered Board of Control for Cricket in India’s very own secretary Mr Devajit Saikia has had an interesting and level headed observation to make on the said matter. He began his important statement by sharing something relevant and useful and said that

“Players should avoid altercations and avoid getting distracted by the collateral issues!” However, that’s not all that Mr Saikia said. He said that “ we will let our players concentrate on the tournament. The CCI is with the team and their game.”

Now, during moments of duress, it is kind and level headed words offered towards the team such as the ones offered by Mr Saikia that provide much needed of relief and comfort cushion to the side.
