We know that both Joe Root and Ben Stokes are tremendously talented Cricketers, greats of English cricket, legends that have carved their own great legacy, but at the same time they have found themselves in a bit of trouble where it is not always happiness unbound in terms of the scenarios that surround them. This couldn’t be true for someone like Ben Stokes, a cricketer alongside whom Joe Root has played a significant part of his test match cricket for England. And it is rather shocking and sad in equal measure that when situations tend to go out of spiral or out of control owing to unfortunate occurrences that take place off the cricket pitch, it tends to cast a shadow of doubt and looming one of that on the international careers of cricketers, such as Ben Stokes.
Having seen the shocking, unwanted, undesirable bar brawl episode that took place most recently in England, in which apparently Ben Stokes stepped in to support and guard his English teammate, Gus Atkinson- the aftermath cut fourth attack in looming picture as far as Ben Stokes overall career is concerned. So much so that there have been mounting talks about his exit from the team on the whole let learn him continuing as the captain of the Test side.
It’s been an unfortunate incident in which even as Ben Stokes wasn’t seen to be the aggressor, it’s the very act that he was involved in a physical altercation that’s done him no good.
Speaking recently on the episode and whether there is a drinking culture in the English side as one knows it, Stokes’ good friend and former England captain Root has had the following to say-
It’s not really one other things in which I make a call. But speaking purely from a personal point of view, it has been disappointing. There have been a few occasions as a team we’ve let ourselves down. We’ve let each other down. And we have to learn from those mistakes. And we should understand that we shouldn’t be letting ourselves in those situations. But I also think it’s not a fair reflection of our dressing room. It’s an incredibly professional dressing room that works incredibly hard. And we’ve got to try and put up a show to tell people as professionals in the performances we put forth this week to show. In terms of being out to celebrate our wins, and things like that, I feel we should be able to do that. But I think doing it at the right time is very iportant.”
