On Friday, August 14, the Sunrisers Leeds recorded a five-wicket win over the Southern Brave in the Women’s The Hundred 2026 Eliminator. With this, they have secured a tournament final date against the Trent Rockets Women. The summit clash will be played on Sunday, August 16 at the Home of Cricket, Lord’s. The game started in the favour of the Sunrisers as they won the toss and let the rivals put the score on the board first. 

 

The Brave got off to a fiery start, and while it seemed like they would be able to dominate the scoreboard, Maia Bouchier’s knock came to an end at 15 runs. Laura Wolvaardt was the next to walk back at 8 runs, while Lizelle Lee went on to score 32 runs in 25 balls. While Sophie Molineux remained unbeaten at 22 runs, the rest of the batters failed and the Brave could only manage to put up 114 runs with the loss of seven wickets. 

In return, the Sunrisers got off to a horrific start and lost both their openers within no time. However, wicketkeeper-batter Lauren Winfield-Hill came to the side’s rescue and put up a 37-ball 37. Annabel Southerland added a crucial 17 while Deepti Sharma remained not out at 28. Skipper Danielle Gibson was sent back the moment she came in whereas Jess Jonassen gave finishing touch with a five-ball 10. 

Middle-Order’s Key Contributions Help Leeds Chase Total in 89 Balls 

While the openers and the lower-batting order failed to put up an impressive batting show, the middle order rescued the side and helped the team chase the total in 89 balls. Hannah Baker was named the Player of the Match for finishing up with figures of 2-13. The win also marked the Sunrisers’ fifth consecutive victory, and they would aim to now record their sixth one in the grand finale. 

Speaking during the post-game presentation, Baker said, “I've never been so nervous in my entire life. But it's good to get over the line, I guess.” She also lauded the Indian cricketer for her crucial knock and said, “I think with our power that we've got in our team, I was always confident she could chase that.” Speaking about her strategy for the final, she said that she would just want to “relax and get ready to go again”.
