47 year old Imran Tahir continued his brilliance at the Caribbean Premier League match at the Sabina Park in Kingston. Tahir broke into his celebration after picking up the wicket which left Jamaica Kingsmen at 61-3 after 10 overs against Guyana Amazon Warriors. Reeza Hendricks was going well scoring 40 before Tahir dismissed him caught-and-bowled, sparking that trademark sprint and fist-pump that fans have come to love. The leg-spinner and captain Imran Tahir reminded everyone why he remains one of T20 cricket’s most exciting players even at this age. The post from the official CPL account captured the moment perfectly

Imran Tahir led from the front with the ball picking up 2/26 in his four overs. His celebration video went viral on social media. Jamaica’s new franchise were looking for their first points after a tough start, but the visitors proved to be too strong. Guyana won the match comprehensively and picked up the crucial points. Recently Tahir led the Guyana team to GSL title and he has been a revelation once again starting the season on a positive note.

Guyana Amazon Warriors start CPL 2026 with a win

Guyana Amazon Warriors won the toss and elected to field. They were excellent from the ball early on. Early wickets from Khary Pierre and Shamar Joseph left the Kingsmen struggling. Reeza Hendricks offered the only real resistance with a quick 40, while captain Rovman Powell chipped in with 24. But the middle order collapsed under the spin of Mohammad Nabi, who produced a superb spell of 4-22. Tahir’s two wickets, including that signature dismissal of Hendricks, helped restrict Jamaica to just 117 all out in 19.4 overs.

Chasing a modest target, Guyana Warriors cruised the chase. Glenn Phillips got them off to a solid start with 28 before Andre Russell struck twice in one over. From there, Shai Hope took control remaining unbeaten on a classy 56 off 41 balls. A few cameos from Nabi (19) and Quentin Sampson (13 not out) guided them home at 118 for 4 in just 14.1 overs to give a comprehensive six-wicket victory with 35 balls to spare. Nabi was named Player of the Match for his all-round impact. The result took Guyana Amazon Warriors to the top of the points table while Jamaica Kingsmen remained winless after three matches.
