The Chambal Ghariyals opener Ankush Singh has secured the game for his side with an unbeaten 107 off just 57 balls against the Jabalpur Royal Lions. Ankush Singh did have a lot to do in the match as they had to chase down a total of 205. There wickets fell continuously at the other end but the Royal Lions batter was committed to take his side across the line. There were some excellent shots on display from the bat of Ankush Singh and the bowlers were struggling to contain the flow of runs. Ankush won the Player of the Match award for his match-winning knock against the Chambal Ghariyals.
During the runchase, there were a couple of partnerships building between the different partners and the lone warrior, Ankush Singh. There was only one batter other than Ankush Singh who crossed the 20-run mark but there were quite a few partnerships that changed the course of the game. It may not look like a complete batting performance from the Chambal Ghariyals but every player that supported Ankush out in the middle made a notable contribution to their victory. The bowling unit of the Jabalpur Royal Lions were able to break partnerships but they couldn’t pick the all important wicket of Ankush Singh.
Ghariyals secure dominant chase against the Royal Lions
Ankush Singh’s knock was worth its weight in gold as he was simply an unstoppable force for the Chambal Ghariyals. He just kept on finding the boundary to trouble the bowlers and they couldn’t formulate a plan to get rid of the dangerous opener. Ankush Singh scored 13 fours and 4 sixes, while striking at 187.72 and this would be one of the best knocks of his franchise cricket career. It needed something big from the Chambal Ghariyals to match the might of Ajay Rohera and Ankush Singh delivered exactly what the doctor ordered.
The bowling unit of the Jabalpur Royal Lions didn’t tick all the boxes but they did a decent job overall. Whenever there was a partnership developing for the Chambal Ghariyals, they were able to create much-needed breakthroughs with wickets. Nayanraj Mewada was their best bowler as he picked up 2 wickets from just 4 overs and gave away just 31 runs. But one thing they will have to work on will be to create pressure on the new batters.
One of the most important things in T20 cricket for batters, is to get off to a strong start to feel confident about their strokeplay. Whenever the bowlers have managed to keep the batters quiet in their early deliveries, it breaks the batter’s rhythm, which ultimately leads to a false shot. The Jabalpur Royal Lions were unable to create that pressure and it is evident in the gap between the fall of wickets and other than that it was simply Ankush Singh’s day.
Chambal Ghariyals stand tall at the top of the table with an extra game and a difference of 6 points between the Rewa Jaguars in second place. They will be assured that they can make it to the next stage and they will be keen on carrying their momentum in the coming games as well in the tournament.
