Netizens expressed their disappointment towards CSK’s bowling against the LSG in their May 15th clash, and labelled Anshul Kamboj’s bowling as ‘a bowling performance of the decade’. On winning the toss, LSG sent CSK to bat first, although CSK failed miserably in the powerplay by just making 37/2, but Kartik Sharma’s 71 off 42 balls and Shivam Dube’s quickfire 32 off 16 helped them put a total of 187 on board.
LSG, on the other hand, easily chased down the total with the help of Mitchell Marsh’s willow. Jos Inglis and Mitchell Marsh together played an opening stand of 135 runs, making the chase look like a cakewalk, but it all came down to Anshul Kamboj and his 63 runs in just 2.4 overs that won’t be forgotten so easily. He conceded 52 runs in the last 10 balls with 4 consecutive sixes in two instances- one on the fifth over against Mitchell Marsh and the other on the 17th over against Nicholas Pooran.
Netizens couldn’t believe such a poor bowling performance by Anshul Kamboj, which literally jeopardised CSK’s must-win situation in the points table. Some netizens
Anshul Kamboj gave away 63 runs in just 15 balls 😭 Only reason he escaped becoming the new Header of Dinda Academy was because CSK didn't have enough runs left to donate 💀 pic.twitter.com/GV75nsLTto

"What if Anshul Kamboj had completed his 4-over quota?😱 It would have been the most expensive spell in IPL history, one that might never be broken! "😭😭 pic.twitter.com/QGQrdgJyUx

just mocked him, whereas some sympathised with him. Some went technical, stating that Anshul’s bowling is only effective with a new ball, on flat pitches like these, he doesn’t have the skillset like Bhuvi or Bumrah to turn things around.
Can CSK still qualify for IPL 2026 Playoffs?
After a slow start to IPL 2026, losing three matches consecutively, lingering at the bottom of the points table, CSK have fought back hard to be at the fifth spot in the points table with 12 points and alive in the tournament to secure a top-four spot. CSK losing against LSG at Ekanna would make them stay at 12 points with Punjab Kings right behind them.
Things have become more desperate now for CSK to win both games from here.If CSK can win two out of the three matches, they will finish on 16 points, wherein the Net Run Rate could come into play to decide their position. If CSK only win one of their three remaining matches, then the Super Kings might get out of the top four, depending on the wins of Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
CSK would next lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans to fight their way towards qualification.
