The Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel has scored a valuable half-century in a tough run chase and he has laid the foundation for his side. Axar didn’t bowl an over in the game but he has utilized his chance with the bat. He was confident right from the onset as he didn’t take many deliveries to get going. Having lost 3 wickets in the powerplay, the Punjab Kings were roaring with the ball but the duo of Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel were good in navigating through it. It is his first half-century of the season and it is a timely one for the Delhi Capitals.

The Delhi Capitals did not have the best of starts in the innings as they lost the big wicket of KL Rahul early on in the innings. They have tested their squad depth with 4 changes to their lineup with inclusion of Sahil Parakh and Abhishek Porel. But both of them failed to fire and that has been the story of the Delhi Capitals this season. The partnership of Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel probably got them out of a difficult phase with a decent amount of runs. David Miller has contributed his bit as well and now they have a good chance of chasing down the total.

Axar Patel walked out to bat at number 5 and he came in a situation when his side were 33/3 in the 5th over. He did a sensible job to knock it around for singles at the start of his innings and he did an excellent job to shift gears. He played some fine cricketing shots and he was timing the ball to perfection. Prior to his dismissal, Axar Patel scored a hat-trick of boundaries against Marcus Stoinis to light the fire for the charge in the last 6 overs of the game. Here are some of the best reactions on X:

The Delhi Capitals have won the game by 3 wickets and the misery of the Punjab Kings doesn’t seem to end as this will be their fourth loss on the trot.
