The current Bangladesh versus Zimbabwe series is a mega exciting one, and perhaps one of the best that we’ve had in all these years in fact, decades of the two teams coming at each other. At the same time, perhaps it is also a hugely under appreciated one. In the recent one of Test match that took place between magnet and Zimbabwe, it was the Chevrons that emerged with a handsome victory and want to savour for the ages. Zimbabwe actually beat Bangladesh by innings and 85 runs. It’s not an everyday site or a commonly recurring one where Zimbabwe established such high credentials in a contest that they emerged with an innings victory, so it was a great moment for the Cricket. And now there is the exciting prospect of seeing three one-day Internationals, and as many T-20 internationals between the two daring sides.
By the one Internationals end on 11 July, the T20 Internationals leg of the series begins from the 15th of this new month.
And most recently Bangladesh have announced their squad for the T20 leg of the series!
But before that one reckons here is what is slated to make the T20 leg of this bilateral series is quite compelling. While on the one hand Bangladesh have not been able to win even a single T20 international in their last 4 contests, Zimbabwe have been able to win a solitary or just one single T20 International from the last four games.
Bangladesh Squad vs Zimbabwe T20I
Towhid Hridoy (Captain), Parvez Hossain Emon, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Mohammed Saif Hassan, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Rishad Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Nahid Rana, Saifuddin, Abdul Gaffar Saqlain.
Now having said that where it comes to confronting each other in the shortest format of the game, then Bangladesh seem to be having with a clear advantage. A commanding one, in fact where it comes to playing Zimbabwe. Now, how is that, you might ask? So far, there have been 25 times that Bangladesh Zimbabwe have played the T20. Now out of these, Bangladesh have emerged victorious on 17 separate occasions while Zimbabwe have been able to only win 8 T20 contests. That’s not a great record so far, isn’t it?
So, does this mean that Bangladesh will continue to enjoy their T20 advantage, and it is a massive one at that against Zimbabwe? We don’t know any of that for now, but what is clearly known as that they would be keen to arrange the test series defeat that was sustained so heavily and suffered at the hands of Zimbabwe.
