The BCCI Men’s Selection Committee announced that Prince Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi will join the national team after mid-match hamstring injuries sidelined Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy. The double injury occurred during the 3rd T20I against England at Trent Bridge. Rana experienced acute pain in his right hamstring during the Nottingham clash.
Scans revealed a minor Grade 1 tear, which excludes him from the upcoming 3-match ODI series in England. Chakaravarthy suffered a more severe left hamstring injury during the same match. Following specialist medical review, he has been completely ruled out of the Zimbabwe tour. Both players have flown back to Bengaluru to report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) for structured rehabilitation. This is a recurring issue for Chakaravarthy, who previously played through a fractured toe during IPL 2026.
It is also bad timing for Rana, who missed the 2026 T20 World Cup due to a previous knee surgery. Yadav has been a breakout star in 2026. He served as a Lucknow Super Giants net bowler in 2023, before being retained for ₹30 Lakh. He weaponised his raw pace to claim 16 wickets in 14 matches during IPL 2026. Known for hitting the deck hard and executing clinical yorkers. He made his senior international debut earlier this summer against Afghanistan.
He will remain in England to integrate with the 50-over squad. Bishnoi offers a proven international track record with 46 T20Is under his belt from 2022. He picked up 11 wickets in 9 games for Rajasthan Royals during the 2026 IPL season. Despite a tough outing in the Manchester T20I that saw him benched for the later stages of the England series, selectors are banking on his quick leg-spin on the Zimbabwean surfaces. He will spearhead the spin department alongside Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.

India to shift focus to ODI series after England's T20I triumph
The India national cricket team's high-profile white-ball tour of England features an eight-match itinerary running through July 2026. Following the conclusion of a five-match T20I series, which England clinched 4–0 on 11 July, attention shifted instantly to the crucial three-match ODI series. The 50-over battle commences with the opening ODI on 14 July 2026 at the atmospheric Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. Both teams will then travel to Cardiff for the pivotal second ODI fixture on 16 July 2026 at Sophia Gardens. Finally, this brief but intense leg wraps up with the third and final ODI on 19 July 2026 at the historic Lord's Cricket Ground in London.
The Indian cricket team intensified its training blocks in England after concluding the recent T20I series.Senior icons Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma successfully cleared their mandatory physical evaluations. They immediately commenced comprehensive net practice sessions, focusing heavily on tactical batting simulations alongside captain Shubman Gill to anchor the 50-over transition. The coaching staff monitored specific workload adjustments to prepare the squad for the longer format. Conversely, injured assets Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy vanished from active team field duties. The medical team ordered both players to report directly to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, where they started their formal rehabilitation programs for hamstring strains.
