A fresh report from the cricketing world has claimed that no coach wants to join the Chennai Super Kings. As per sources, the five-time IPL champions have reportedly explored the options to replace Stephen Fleming at the helm of their coaching staff following a series of disappointing seasons. However, a report has made a huge claim suggesting that the franchise hasn’t been able to do so, and their franchise legend MS Dhoni has emerged as a potential hurdle.

As per The Indian Express, the five-time IPL champions were approached by a ‘big name’ Indian coach with ‘close ties’ to the franchise last year, but the franchise asked him to wait. Meanwhile, the franchise tried to convince another potential replacement, but he said that he would not apply for the position until Dhoni was around.

The sources suggest that coaches are likely to feel hesitant about how much control they would have over the day-to-day of the team with Dhoni’s image looming large.

Is MS Dhoni likely to replace Stephen Fleming as next CSK coach?

There is another possibility floating, which suggests that MS Dhoni could replace Stephen Fleming as the next head coach of Chennai Super Kings. The possibility was hinted by R Ashwin, former India and CSK spinner, who during a discussion around the franchise would hardly need to search elsewhere for leadership. He opined that given Dhoni’s connection with the franchise and excellent leadership qualities, the team could consider him as Fleming’s successor.

Notably, the Yellow Army endured a disappointing season, triggering questions over the future of their long-term head coach, Stephen Fleming. The team will, however, undergo a post-season review, and all of this has fueled conversations about possible changes that could take place for the team.
