Seattle chose to bat first after winning the toss, but they faced a tough beginning. The team could only muster 32 runs while losing three wickets during the powerplay, as the Knight Riders' bowlers applied relentless pressure. The innings remained under control for Los Angeles until Shanaka stepped in at 66/5 in the 13th over. He turned the game around with some impressive hitting, finishing not out on 58, which included five fours and five sixes. Sheikh's steady innings provided the necessary support for Seattle before the captain took charge in the closing overs.
