Going into Day 4 of the first Test, Roach had 296 career wickets to his name. With Sri Lanka forced to follow on after a mammoth first-innings deficit of 318 runs, Roach and his fellow seamers tore through the batting order on a surface where they generated incredible late movement. Roach set the tone in the very first over of the day, trapping opener Nishan Madushka lbw with a sharp, swinging delivery which became his 297th wicket.
