Delhi Capitals batter David Miller scored his first fifty of the Indian Premier League 2026 during the clash against the Punjab Kings. Both teams locked horns in the 55th league-stage game of the season at the scenic HPCA Stadium, in Dharamsala on Monday, May 11. Batting first, the Sheryas Iyer-led side posted a 210 at the loss of five wickets, riding high on Priyansh Arya and skipper’s respective fifties. In return, the Axar Patel-led side got off to a horrific start and lost three wickets within the first five overs.

While players such as Tristan Stubbs and Shail Parakh tried to give the side some stability, Punjab bowlers didn’t show any mercy. However, skipper Axar Patel and David Miller came to the side’s rescue and came up with their own half centuries. The Proteas cricketer utilized 27 deliveries to not only record his first fifty of the season but also turning it on for the Capitals.

Prabhsimran Singh takes diving catch to dismiss David Miller

While at one point it seemed that Miller and Patel could guide the side to their much-needed victory, the former was dismissed on the very next ball he scored his fifty. Miller tried to bridge the gap by hitting his third consecutive six off a Ben Dwarshuis delivery, but wicketkeeper Prabhsimran Singh caught him out. Miller swung across the delivery and got a top-edge, and as the ball went up in the air, Prabhsimran came all the way from behind the stumps, towards the short cover to pull the catch.

Miller was forced to walk back at 51 (28) with three boundaries and four maximums, while the Capitals were still in need of 41 runs. However, later Madhav Tiwari and Aquib Nabi Dar pulled off 18* and 10* to complete the Capitals’ second highest target chase. Not only this, but this also marked the highest successful chase at Dharamsala, and the fourth consecutive defeat for the Kings in the season.
