Chennai Super Kings’ star Dewald Brevis pulled off a stunning catch to put an end to Pathum Nissanka’s knock in IPL 2026. The Super Kings were up against the Delhi Capitals at home in the 18th game of the season. After putting up a total of 212 runs, owing to a remarkable century of opener Sanju Samson, the Super Kings continued their dominance in the second innings as well. As the Capitals stepped in to chase the total, CSK bowlers wreaked havoc on the Delhi batters and kept removing them one after the other.

On the second ball of the sixth over, Dewald Brevis executed a fine catch to bring an end to Nissanka’s knock. Anshul Kamboj bowled a full-length delivery in the middle, and Nissanka picked it out early and aimed to clear mid-on. However, the batter couldn’t get the timing right and ended up chipping coldly to mid on. Brevis, who made his IPL 2026 debut during the game, got down and executed an effortless catch to reduce the Capitals to 61/2.

Nissanka was forced to walk back at 41 runs in 24 balls. Later in the game, Brevis also pulled off another catch to bring an end to Sameer Rizvi’s knock at 6 runs in 9 balls.

Delhi Capitals get reduced to 130/5 by the end of 13 overs

The Capitals, who entered the game on the back of a narrow loss to the Gujarat Titans, were aiming to rebound from the setback and get back on their winning momentum. However, the five-time champions had other plans. After a spectacular show by the CSK’s top-batting order, their bowlers continued their red-hot form and went all guns blazing on the Delhi batters. KL Rahul could manage to score only 18 runs in 10 deliveries while Sameer Rizvi came up with six runs.

In addition, skipper Axar Patel scored only one run, whereas David Miller contributed 17 runs in 14 balls. Nissanka had 41 runs in 24 balls. As of writing, the Capitals were still in need of 83 runs in 42 balls.
