Delhi Capitals player Tristans Stubbs was seen throwing his bat and helmet in frustration after being dismissed against CSK. In the 18th match of the IPL 2026, the five-time IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings hosted the Capitals at home, Chepauk. The game saw the hosts bat first and post an above average total of 212 runs at the loss of just two wickets. While the Capitals were aiming to rebound from their previous setback against the Gujarat Titans, things didn’t go as planned for them.

After a remarkable show by bat, the CSK bowlers wreaked havoc on the visiting team and dismissed their batters quickly in their chase of 213 runs. However, Tristan Stubbs tried to get his side to some stability. He posted 60 runs off 38 balls, with a combination of four boundaries and three maximums. Just when things started to look positive for the visitors, a Jamie Overton delivery ended his knock.

Needless to say, the dismissal left Stubbs frustrated and he was seen throwing his bat near the dug out before smashing his helmet in the dressing room. The video of the incident went viral across social media.

Chennai Super Kings record first win of the season

After Stubbs, no DC player could manage to get a grip and contribute much. While Ashutosh Sharma posted 19 runs, remaining players in the line up including Auqib Nabi Dar, Kuldeep Yadav, Lungi Ngidi and T Natrajan came up with 19, 4, 4, and 3* runs respectively. This led to the Chennai Super Kings’ first win of the season, with a margin of 23 runs. On the other hand, DC recorded their second straight loss.

Speaking on the loss, DC skipper Axar Patel said, “I think we got off to a good start, but if we talk about the chase, after the powerplay we lost two or three wickets in quick succession, which broke the momentum. I feel the difference in fielding was the game-changing moment for me. And if you look at it, whenever wickets fell, they fell in pairs, which made things very difficult.”

In their next game, DC will play RCB, while CSK will lock horns with KKR.
