The Rajasthan Royals were running riot on the Lucknow Super Giants with the ball and Dhruv Jurel pulled off an absolute stunner behind the stumps to see the end of Mayank Yadav. The Royals have been brilliant with the ball as they didn’t allow any of the batters except Marsh to have a hold on the game. They seemed down and out in the first innings but Ravindra Jadeja’s late flourish seemed to have an impact in the game. The Rajasthan Royals ended up winning the match by 40 runs.
The Lucknow Super Giants have had their top order struggling for runs throughout this tournament and there seems to be no end to their worries. The biggest drawback of the side is their batting itself as today Ayush Badoni, Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram were dismissed for a duck. It is not very often that you see such horrific batting at the top but it is indeed a rarity for a team to have such a capable batting unit performing in the worst way possible.
RR bowlers dismantle LSG batting as Jurel’s brilliance caps emphatic 40-run victory
The Rajasthan Royals put up a total of 160 on board and the Lucknow Super Giants must have felt that it would be a comfortable total to chase. Especially with a batting unit that consists of Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram, nothing could go wrong. However, they lost three early wickets in the power play and they were pushed onto the backfoot. Ravi Singh displayed a brilliant bit of fielding to see the end of Ayush Badoni in the first over. Mitchell Marsh played a solid knock of 55 and he gave the Lucknow Super Giants a glimmer of hope. But it did not last long as the rest of the Lucknow batters started to fall like a deck of cards.
In the 18th over of the innings, Jofra Archer was given the ball to clean up the tail-end of the Lucknow Super Giants. After being hit for a four, Archer bowled one right at the stumps and Mayank Yadav tried to play it down to third man but ended up edging it. The ball seemed like it would fly away to the boundary but Dhruv Jurel caught it quite brilliantly and that was the end of Mayank Yadav.
The Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag was visibly relieved after the game as he vented his frustration after the last wicket. After two successive losses the Rajasthan Royals are back on the 2nd spot and the Lucknow Super Giants are still searching for answers for their batting form. We have seen teams failing in the IPL due to poor bowling attacks but how often have we seen a powerful bowling unit being disappointed constantly due to the poor form of such a star studded batting unit.
