Reports suggest that India could tour Bangladesh in August 2026, for a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series. Earlier, the Indian cricket team was scheduled to tour Bangladesh in August 2025, but the tour was postponed due to the tensions between the countries. Another obstacle that was faced for the series was the instruction of the BCCI to exclude Mustafizur Rahman from the Kolkata Knight Riders Squad due to a conflict between the nations.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has been making attempts to improve the relations with the BCCI, as the postponed dates for the tour are just around the corner. The newly elected Prime Minister of the nation, Tarique Rahman, has been working hard to mend the ties between the countries,s and Aminul Haque has also made efforts to make this series happen as there is a lot at stake for the country. Sources close to the BCB have confirmed that the BCB has written an official letter to the BCCI regarding the uncertainty regarding the upcoming India tour of the Bangladesh series.
Talks Resume Between Boards as Hopes Rise for August 2026 Tour Revival
The tensions between India and Bangladesh seemed to intensify when India detected anti-India emotions from Bangladesh, which made them postpone the tour in 2025. The exclusion of Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL also left a negative impact on the Bangladesh Cricket Board. In return, they pulled out from the T20 World Cup citing security reasons, and the ICC had turned down their request to relocate the matches due to the delayed request and replaced the Bangladesh National Cricket Team with the Scotland National Cricket Team.
With the talks between both sub-continent nations making progress, the fans of both countries will be hopeful that they can work out a diplomatic solution in such a way that the tour will happen as scheduled and the spirit of the game is upheld.
