In what is a highly shocking, hugely surprising and perhaps completely strange incident involving noted Punjab Kings batter famous for his exploits in the Indian Premier League, it appears that Shashank Singh has had an FIR lodged against him. As a matter of fact, the incident for which the FIR has been lodged against Singh, a talented right handed batter, also involves his father and their driver.

Shashank Singh’s father happens to be a retired Indian Administrative Service officer. The whole incident involves a complaint filed with the police in the Madhya Pradesh capital city of Bhopal by their cook- as surprising as it may sound. And the said complaint actually involves a claim of seizure of mobile phone, injuries that are visible to the eye with police currently investigating the case and the incident thereof.

The FIR, as it turns out, is registered against the current member of the famous Punjab Kings squad member, Shashank Singh who has been noted for allegedly assaulting and verbally abusing a man by the name of Vipendra Singh, who happens to be a member of the cooking staff. Further to that, what is currently known is that a case has been filed at present against three individuals on charges including assault.

So on the whole, not just the all round cricketer Shashank Singh but even his father, Mr Shailesh Singh’s who happens to be a retired Special Director General of Police are found to have been named in a criminal case. This is, of course, following allegations of assault, verbal abuse, and wrongful confinement by their domestic cook.

The FIR aka the First Information Report (FIR) was actually registered at the Ratibad Police Station in MP capital of Bhopal on Monday, June 29, 2026. The case actually arises basis a formal complaint lodged by the 31-year-old Vipendra Singh Tomar, who happens to be a native of the Rewa district, very much in Madhya Pradesh and who had recently moved to the state’s capital city in order to work at the family's bungalow located at a place called Nilbad.

Now, here’s where further interesting. The family's driver, who is identified as Mishra, has also been named as a co-accused in the case. These inputs are according to The New Indian Express newspaper.

Seizure of mobile phone

The police have found that Tomar Tomar who was employed at a monthly salary of INR 15,000 as on June 25 (this month) was also promised included free food, accommodation. And that’s not all- but even assurances that were noted to be vague in nature with regard to a future government job. But that is where things turned uglier as not long after his employment at the household, the inner atmosphere turned hostile and unfriendly as there were arguments and debates about the quality of the food that he prepared.

Having said all the above, it is important to delve into excerpts from a news report published in the Hindustan Times on the said incident. We quote-

“When Tomar expressed his desire to resign and return home due to the abusive atmosphere, the situation allegedly escalated. He claimed that his mobile phone was forcibly confiscated to prevent him from contacting anyone, prompting him to lock himself inside a room for personal safety. The cook further alleged that the father, son, and driver forced open the door, subjected him to physical violence, and subsequently evicted him from the premises. A medical examination later conducted by the local police confirmed visible injury marks on Tomar's face and body.”

Whatever be the outcome of the case, it doesn’t look too good on the part of Shashank Singh, who has an active career at the moment. Could this prove to be a black spot on his image and current standing on the game- who can say?
