The 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is getting into its zone and the hype around it is simply unmatched. After some end-to-end action in the group stages, the focus now shifts to the Super 8 where the final eight teams will go up against each other for a chance at glory. India have been grouped alongside West Indies, South Africa and Zimbabwe in Group 1.
Group 2 consists of England, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Pakistan. Pundits and experts from all across the globe are busy predicting the semi-finalists of this World Cup. Former Indian international Subramaniam Badrinath also jumped on the bandwagon and shared the names of the teams he thinks will qualify for the semis.
Badrinath chose India and South Africa to go through to the semi-final from Group 1 while favouring Pakistan and Sri Lanka to qualify from Group 2. While Badrinath’s choice for Group 1 is the same as everyone else, his decision to back Pakistan and Sri Lanka from Group 2 is very contradictory to other experts who have chosen England and New Zealand for the final four.
Lakshmipathy Balaji and Anirudha Srikkanth think Pakistan should go through
Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) speedster Lakshmipathy Balaji has also favoured Pakistan to qualify for the semi-final. Balaji has also picked New Zealand as the second team while picking India and South Africa as the favorites to qualify from Group 1.
Another former CSK star, Anirudha Srikkanth also shared the names of his final four. Srikkanth picked India and South Africa as strong semi-final contenders from the first group while Pakistan and Sri Lanka were his picks from Group 2.
