With there being no fewer than 20 league stage games that were followed by two brilliantly concluded semi finals which was followed by one mega final contest that was completed just hours ago, the now widely noted Nuvama Private T20 Mumbai League was a successful and eminent franchise based twenty over a side competition that made headlines, inspired new talents from around Mumbai and nearby regions (to show their skill at the best possible level) and garnered cricketing attention on the part of fans not only restricted to Mumbai or Maharashtra, specially speaking.

At the end of it all, the winners of the last season, i.e., the 2025 edition of the Nuvama T20 league were able to successfully defend their title as the MSC Maratha Royals crowned themselves with the coveted title triumph once again in the Nuvama Private T20 Mumbai League. And in so doing, they were seen defeating the ARCS Andheri by a margin of eight runs in a tense final that was held rather closely by either side at Mumbai's iconic Wankhede Stadium.

So what really happened in that final contest successfully won by the Maratha Royals that specifically, in reference to those who weren’t able to witness the action, popular social media outlets are hailing as- two minutes silence to those who missed the action and why is it all making the right kind of noises?

As it turned out, upon batting first, the ultimate winners of that contest - Maratha Royals actually batted first. But that’s not all. While they didn’t pose what one would consider a really lanky total- they were still able to register a tricky looking 154/5 in their 20 overs. This is the sort of total you’d call competitive, wouldn’t t you? However, that was thanks largely to a very bright and much needed knock of 61 runs that came from the bat of a certain Chinmay Sutar.

When the chase unfolded, it wasn’t how the Andheri team would have wanted. So here’s what happened? In response, the ARCS Andheri did try as best as they possibly could have and fought hard. But they fell short by a dainty margin of 8 runs. That’s all. In the end, they found themselves restricted to 146/8, falling just short of the target.

But you could clearly say that the central defining role of the victory in the Maratha Royals side was their bowling attack as it held the key. How so? Now, with Tushar Deshpande (2/33) and Aditya Dhumal (2/20) producing four wickets as they delivered key breakthroughs during the chase, those in pursuit weren’t just allowed to settle. Not a bit.

On the other hand, those contesting from ARCS Andheri made some firm progress as Arjun Tendulkar, now widely noted for his fast bowling talent, emerged as the standout performer with the ball. He would clinch a vital 2/36 and tried as best as he could.

However, as is often the case, no final contest that brings up a tight finish can ever eschew drama. This one wasn't without some either. As one saw, some tensions erupted especially in the 19th over after Gaurav Jathar was dismissed. This lead to a heated exchange between players from both sides near the dugout. Perhaps something that could have been avoided. What was interesting to see was that not just the umpires, but even the valiant Andheri captain Shivam Dube had to step in to calm the situation and restore order.

However, in the end, the Maratha Royals secured their second consecutive T20 Mumbai League title, which shows just how dominant a side they are in this competition.
