
The ICC Hall of Fame ceremony took place in Edinburgh, Scotland, concluding the ICC’s Annual Conference. ICC Chairman Jay Shah personally presented the physical medallions to former England star Kevin Pietersen, former India women's captain Anjum Chopra and formally cementing their legacy as part of the Class of 2026. Jay Shah issued an official statement on X (formerly Twitter) to welcome the legends.
In his statement, Jay Shah expressed his delight in welcoming the new inductees, praising them as extraordinary individuals whose achievements contributed greatly to the sport. He congratulated Sourav Ganguly, Anjum Chopra, and Kevin Pietersen on behalf of the ICC for their well-deserved honour, highlighting that this recognition ensures their lasting legacy in cricket.
“I am delighted to welcome the latest inductees into the @ICC Hall of Fame, a tribute to the extraordinary individuals whose achievements have contributed greatly to our sport. @SGanguly99, @chopraanjum and @KP24 have all led their national teams with pride, and I would like to congratulate them on behalf of the ICC for this richly deserved honour”, the President wrote.
The event was held at Edinburgh, England. Shah personally awarded medals to Kevin Pietersen and Anjum Chopra, while Sourav Ganguly was honored alongside them. With these additions, the ICC Hall of Fame reached 125 members.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) officially immortalized Pietersen on 11 July 2026 alongside fellow legends Sourav Ganguly and Anjum Chopra, increasing the ultra-exclusive global roster to 125 members. Expressing raw gratitude, Pietersen noted that seeing his name alongside the game's greatest figures was "truly humbling".
He called it the "highest recognition a cricketer can receive" and acknowledged the deep personal fulfillment of looking back at a career across all three international formats. “Humbled and honoured to be inducted into the Hall of Fame last night. Special mention to @JayShah and his amazing ICC team! So proud and happy to have my beautiful family with me too.Thank you to everyone who played a part in my career. Love you all! ❤️”, the former cricketer wrote.
Known throughout his playing days for fiercely valuing his inner circle, Pietersen shared the moment alongside his wife, Jessica Taylor, and his children, emphasizing that having his family physically present made the milestone complete. Pieterson amassed 13,797 runs across a decade-long international career, averaging 47.28 in Tests and 40.73 in ODIs. Pietersen was inducted alongside two iconic pillars of Indian cricket history, offering a symmetrical celebration of leadership and run-scoring.
