The firmament of the men’s Indian cricket team is, by usual lofty standards, running a busy schedule. And that’s even more so the case with the fast approaching Men’s ODI 2027 World Cup reminding one and all about the important reminder that a significant global cricketing event is going to strike and it’s where India have to target the big win. Their last World Cup title triumph coming way back in the year 2011, which is now, doing school boy math suggests, a decade and a half back in the day.
Which is why it helps to have a packed schedule especially with such a significant tour on the cards with everyone’s attention resting on the ultimate prize or glory!
That perhaps also explains why ever since the completion of the last edition of the IPL, the men’s team haven’t really rested a bit and been playing consistent white ball cricket. Even at the moment the team is in England where a final one dayer is to be played against England on Sunday. That’s right after two back to back bi-lateral T20I series’ against Ireland and England in that order.
And thats not all; right at the end of the year India are to play another important bi-lateral contest against the New Zealand side.
It is in the month of October, just a quarter away, that India will be visiting the New Zealand shores for a series that’ll be a prime opportunity to get some useful practice in the white ball arena. But guess what? As an important precursor to that particular series, it has been announced just recently that the India A side shall be touring the land of the famous BlackCaps.

With the tour comprising no fewer than 3 one day games and 2 first class games, the India A team visiting New Zealand shall look at this tour with great interest. Perhaps the men leading the charge ke the an India A side will be one other than Ruturaj Gaekwad. He’s often led the emerging sides in the recent past as well where it comes to the leadership charge of the India A tours.
More importantly, the India A tour to New Zealand, which will be an important initial chapter to pave the foundation for the men’s senior side’s forthcoming tour later the year is going to take place in August.
One wonders which might be some of the other players that will likely form part of the India A men’s side’s tour to New Zealand. Will the likes of Rajat Patidar, among others get a chance to visit the Kiwi land?
